Database application is an add-on that is provided by the WmJDBCAdapter package. Database application enables you to exchange data with databases using JDBC drivers. Database application provides seamless and real-time communication with the database without requiring changes to your existing application infrastructure.
Using Database application, you can create and execute actions like retrieving, inserting, and updating data in a database.
Database application enables you to configure the following:
Account: Enables you to connect to the database systems. You must configure the account to use in Database application actions.
Actions: Enables you to initiate and perform CRUD operations and execute stored procedures on a database. For example, a Database application can enable a trading partner to query your inventory database to determine whether a particular item is currently in stock.
Actions are based on templates provided by the Database application. Each template represents an SQL statement for performing an action on a database. For example, use the Select action to retrieve specified data from the database tables.
Creating a new action from a template is straightforward. You must create an account, using which you can create a new action. During this process, select the action template and configure the action using the wizards.
Database application provides the following action templates:
Batch Insert: Inserts new data into a database table. Use this action when you insert a large volume of data into a single table. The data source for the action is a document list.
Batch Update: Updates data in a database table when dealing with a large volume of data. Use this action when you update a large volume of data in a single table. The data source for the action is a document list.
Select: Retrieves specified data from a database table and includes a mapping for an output field that stores the number of rows retrieved.
Insert: Inserts new data into a database table.
Update: Updates the existing data in a database table and includes a mapping for an output field that stores the number of affected rows.
Delete: Deletes rows from a table and includes a mapping for an output field that stores the number of affected rows
Custom SQL: Defines and executes custom SQL to perform database operations. You can execute almost any SQL statement required by integrations, such as data management statements.
Dynamic SQL: Defines and executes a SQL statement, part of which you set at run time through the input field.
Stored Procedure: Calls a stored procedure to perform database operations.
